Eddi Reader - Baby's Boat
Eddi releases her brand new single 'Baby's Boat' on 4 November!
You can pre-order it now from iTunes: itunes.apple.com/ph/album/babys-boat-single/id709606438
Eddi had this to say about the new single:
"The words for Baby's Boat are from a lullaby I heard in the Robert de Niro film, Awakenings. I've always wanted to use them. They were written around 1898 by a woman called Alice Riley who encouraged young women to learn to dance, sing, act, and to be involved in public affairs.
She died in 1953 in Pasadena, which is now my brother's home. We were inspired after a run in with our little babes now turning into adults and teaching us how to let go. We all started jamming with it in my house, Mark captured it on tape, and I spent time editing it into a song. John came up with this melody from one I improvised.
Upon finishing recording I symbolically chucked a bottle with a message in it off the pier at Clydebank.I whispered a prayer into the bottle before screwing down the lid. I watched it float towards the Clyde estuary and on to Argyll and someplace other...Sail Baby Sail."

Eddi Reader - Don't Think Twice, It's All Right
Переглядів 8 тис.11 років тому
Today I was so full of independence debate and spring sunshine... exhausted explaining that independence didn't mean I hated England... I love England. Then the guitar winked at me and it was sitting waiting for me in my favourite tuning and Don't Think Twice wanted to put in its penny's worth. Eddi xxxx

Brenda…Prue…Shannen…💔🙏🏻
A Song fur my wee dug, Minerva. RIEP. "For to see her was to love her".
This is just a beautiful thing. Engaging both heart and ears with such generous warmth and fantasy.
There are some songs I cannot fathom are not major hits and instead pretty unknown and this is one of them just gorgeous
Beautiful Eddi, just beautiful.
Nobody does Burns like Eddie, I listen to her every night ❤
I had this played at my husband's funeral and the words were in his coffin. A beautiful song about love and loss. "Had we never loved so kindly Had we never loved so blindly Nor never met, nor never parted We would ne'er ha' been so broken-hearted" 💔💔
This is 15 years old! Still at the top of my play list. I loved Fair Ground Attraction. Was lucky enough to see Eddie at The Basement in Sydney.
My Dad's funeral is on the 31st of May 24. We are going to play this version of the song at his service. Sleep tight Lachlan Cameron Hunter McLean ❤
Ended up changing it to the Karen Matheson version. Sorry Eddi 😞

there are such wonderful chords why play a monotone ?
I may have commented previously. My brother suggested this song, this version, to escort my mother's coffin out of our church. My dad agreed. I have no recollection of that journey on the day but I know any challenge, personal or physical, I've had since , this song has always been to hand. Beautiful song. Beautifully sung. Thank you Eddi Reader!
Missed you in Dumfries Eddi I was unwell..😓 see you next time, such charisma and fun! Cracking lady....💞😃
She is so talented
It's not on Spotify anymore
there is no equal
First time I heard this was returning to Orkney to watch some friends climb the Old Man, whilst I “rested” after my latest round of chemo. Eddie’s voice has always reminded me of my struggles but also how much I’ve achieved and how much I still want to challenge.
Wow, beautiful. What a fantastic voice. Fabulous
🏴
This was played at my Dad's funeral in 2020 and I couldn't be there because of covid travel restrictions..but I'm glad this, one his very favourite songs was played to help guide him home😢❤
I didn’t get to my dad’s funeral because of the travel restrictions either…I played and recorded all the music for the service…it still breaks my heart to have not been there… Best wishes to you 🙏🏼
Your Dad would have maybe heard it from far away

My lovely mum Nancy. died in 2012. Love to her always .
This was one of my mum's favorite Burns poems. It was played as her coffin left the church.
I wish I was Eddi Readers darling.
Wow....just plain old wow 👐💖👐
Wow wow wonderful 😅
Burns never said actually he was sorry. Yes a beautiful song to his own heart and not to a women, a Fond kiss to his own heart. A lament to himself. No Eddie he never got over it. He will will need generations to get him further.
I have been in LOVE with Eddie Reader for a long time Hey Eddi love you still best wishes Kinnon,
